It's undeniable that the size and attitude of these creatures is what makes them extremely powerful and iconic. For coastal bears in Alaska, much of this strength is due to their inseparable relationship with the salmon and the rivers themselves.
Each year, in the Katmai National Park and Preserve in Alaska, grizzly bears and salmon are celebrated during the annual Fat Bear Week. Weighing in and voting on the chonk, anyone is able to appreciate and support the bears via internet live-stream.
